Honor Roll: Jow-Lay Huang PhD’84 has been elected president of the National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Huang had been a Distinguished Professor with the National Cheng Kung University Department of Materials Science and Engineering, where he specialized in ceramics and thin film technology. Huang also serves as president of University of Utah Taiwan Alumni Club.

The University's commencement ceremony is slated for May 4.
Man of La Mancha
 Pioneer Theatre Company presents this Tony Award winner.

Athletics


National Contenders: The University of Utah gymnastics team placed fifth in the NCAA Championships, held in Georgia in April. Alabama won the Super Six finals, followed by Florida, UCLA, Stanford, Utah, and Arkansas.
  • Swimming: Eight U swimmers have qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and are aiming for the Summer Games in London.
  • Football: The Red team rallied for a 22-21 victory in the Utah Spring Game in late April. 
  • Track & Field: In its first Pac-12 year, the U women's team had 17 athletes named to the 2012 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor All-Academic team.
