Fostering Education: Scholarships 2018-19

The Alumni Association is proud to foster education and recognize the academic achievements, community and university involvement, and outstanding potential of students by offering a variety of scholarships to qualified candidates. The Alumni Association currently awards more than 80 scholarships each year totaling some $800,000. If you would like to participate in this initiative, you may donate to the scholarships of your choice.

         


Undergraduate Scholarships

Available to students who have completed at least two full years at the U and have been extensively involved in activities and organizations on campus. Minimum GPA required is 3.3.

Available to students who will be University of Utah seniors beginning in Fall 2018, and who have an excellent academic record and commitment to fellow students. Minimum GPA required is 3.0.

Available to former University of Utah students who have had their education interrupted because of an unusual and difficult circumstance. Student must be returning as an undergraduate and require financial assistance in order to pursue further education. Minimum GPA required is 3.0.

The international clubs award various scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least one semester at the U. The applicant’s country of origin has to match the country’s club. The entire dollar amount will be applied at one time to student’s tuition account – no exceptions.

Students who receive a scholarship, fellowship, or other financial aid administered by the University of Utah are required by state law to certify that they are eligible to receive the scholarship as a U.S. citizen or a citizen of another country who is lawfully present in the U.S. If students do not know whether they are in the U.S. lawfully, they should seek the advice of an immigration attorney before filing a scholarship/financial aid application.

Prior to the disbursement of any scholarship/financial aid, the University of Utah is required by law to verify the recipient’s citizenship status or lawful presence in the U.S. with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Once the University submits a student’s information to DHS for verification, this federal agency may have the legal right to share the information with other government agencies.
