'60s

Alan Engen BS’63 BFA’63 received the Ski Archives of the J. Willard Marriott Library's 2019 S.J. Quinney Award. Engen is the son of Utah ski pioneers Alf and Evelyn Engen. He was a member of the U's ski team and had an extensive career as a competitive skier. 

'90s

Wendy Terrien BS’91 published a new YA fantasy novel, The Forge of Bonds. The book is a coming-of-age story where friendships thrive despite adversity.

Linda Edelman MPL’93 BS’95 PhD’08 received the Amy J. Berman Geriatric Nursing Leadership Award from the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Edelman is director of education and practice in the U's College of Nursing.

'00s

Wesley Johnson BA’09 was named Paralympic Coach of the Year by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

Anita Coyle BS’02 MS’04 PhD’07 received the 2019 Dave Desantis XTERRA Warrior Award “in honor of her exemplary courage in the face of adversity.” Anita is an ultra athlete and mother of four kids who started her own Instagram channel, Racing from the Ashes, after her husband, Jason Coyle BA'01, passed away.

U Football Defensive Coordinator Morgan Scalley BA’04 MBA’07 is one of five finalists for the Broyles Award, presented to the best assistant coach in college football.

'10s

Kat Martinez BFA’12 was elected to serve on the Murray City Council. Martinez previously served on the Murray Arts Advisory Board, the Viewmont Elementary Community Council and the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault board.

Garrett Bright BA’12 will be a commercial airline pilot this spring. Bright trained with the US Air Nat’l Guard as a large aircraft transport pilot and will soon return home from being deployed overseas.

Alexi Johnson BS’15 was featured in Utah Business’ "20 in their 20s." Johnson is the owner of the Hammered Copper, an event bartending company in SLC. Thumbnail photo in email by Justin Hackworth for Utah Business Magazine.

Kaitlin Bundock PhD’15 is an assistant professor of special education and rehabilitation at Utah State University. She previously taught high school math in a resource setting in Salt Lake and Hawaii.
